STUFF I HAVE USED MY GINSU KNIFE FOR
I was once a skeptic about this knife. But now I'm a believer. It was a free gift, so figuring I have little to lose, I've been finding new uses for this knife almost on a daily basis.

  • Cutting veggies, chicken breast, and bread.
  • Opening boxes. Great for tearing through packaging tape.
  • Cutting boxes. This knife has out performed every pocket knife I've tested it against. (Tests involved cutting lid flaps off.)
  • Cutting twine into pieces. Rips right through it.
  • Cutting Drywall
  • Slicing through wood trim for around interior doors. The teeth are so fine that it takes a while if you are using it to cut directly through wood, but the cut is really smooth.
  • Cutting/Shaving metal and wood off the bottom of a door that is rubbing against floor tiles. The knife was perfect for this because cut was so smooth. A larger saw would have made the much rougher. And yes, it also sliced through the metal panels.
  • Cutting open bags of asphalt.

Future projects:

  • Cutting a metal pipe (for a wiring project). Actually, I just tried using this knife for cutting a metal strip that goes in the doorway at the edge of the carpet. It was taking forever! I eventually just used a pair of snips. This knife doesn't seem to be suitable for heavy or thick metal.

Ginsu 2000 Knife
2002 to 9/20/2004

Ginsu 2000 Knife has died in action today. While cutting through about 6" of rolled, wet carpet, it couldn't take the stress, and snapped. Ginsu was slicing right through too, without any fraying. I think I may have pushed it a little too hard. *sigh* I fear how difficult life will be without the presence of this versatile little knife in my life.
